Kieran Hatton has been diving since 1996 when he was just 14 years old.  At 16, prior to visiting Scapa Flow for the first time, he took his first Tec Course and from then he has never looked back.  To Kieran, diving is a passion and training is the necessary tool to access good, enjoyable, safe diving – at whatever depth and whatever equipment configuration is needed for the chosen dive.

Currently based in Plymouth, Kieran teaches both open circuit and rebreather nitrox/trimix.  Kieran is well regarded amongst the diving industry for his knowledge, for his practicality and for his passion for thorough course training with each and every student from the start.

Now a full cave diver, Kieran has certainly put his time in teaching basic level courses.  He crossed over from BSAC to PADI in 2003 and worked in Australia and Plymouth before heading to Scapa Flow for 4 seasons.  The extraordinary density and historic importance of the wrecks within Scapa Flow captivated Kieran from the beginning and he spent the 4 years researching each and every one of these awesome wrecks.  This interest naturally led to a ‘History Week’ – a regular feature in Scapa with more and more weeks filled each year on the various charter boats by divers keen to learn the history of this world class dive site.  2013 sees this interest developing further with an expedition to the WW1 Jutland wrecks!

Kieran listens to his many divers – what they need and where they want to dive.  From arranging trips solely to Scapa, he has an amazing 2012 planned for his customers – Norway, Fraserburgh, Truk, Plymouth and Scapa of course!  Kieran’s only problem is how to beat that for 2013 – The Great Lakes or Mexico anyone??

Good diver training will give you the most important skill set that you will ever need to enjoy great diving, which after all is what it is all about”!  Despite doing thousands of dives, Kieran has lost none of his early enthusiasm.
