Blog

6th August - A long time again since an update but you can find me on facebook which is a bit more up to date, search for Kieran Hatton.
So since the last update.

Norway was fantastic a huge success and we are off there again next year.
I had 3 weeks in Orkney conducting CCR training for 3 guys form Kuwait, which was great fun and they did really well!
My NE Scotland gas week was not a great success due to fog but I did have good fun with the camera in Scapa.
Tekcamp was a great experience and I'm really pleased to of been asked back again next year.
It was great to run a Mod 2 course at home in Plymouth and get all the qualifying dives done in the sea in great conditions!

Unfortunately my Jutland trip for this month has been cancelled so I have some time off and time to catch up on jobs!

I have now updated the trips dates page with next years Norway, Scapa and NE Scotland's gas weeks dates as well as the course calender.

I should have some photo updates soon.

-------------------------------------

16th May, Non Stop since the last update.
Just back from three weeks in Scapa helping out at Scapa Scuba [what a fantastic place and I love going there]. CCR Mod 1 and 2  before then as well as some film jobs with DMS.
I've just taken delivery of a shiny new Sony NEX5n and Nauticam housing so looking forward to having a play with that over the next 2 weeks in Norway.

I now have dates for a History week in Scapa with spaces which are 7th-12th October and there is a Normoxic CCR course running from the 23rd - 27th July with 3 days diving aboard Seeker here in Plymouth.

17th March, its been a busy start to the year :). Highlights have been going out to Malta to complete my CCR trimix instructor rating, a trip to Turkey to fix some camera's on behalf of Woods Hole in the US; they are situated on a pen that is home to two dolphins being prepared for release to the wild by the born free foundation. Now busy with lots of service and fixing work as well as refit work on the Ocean Star.
Start trimix and CCR training soon though!

18th Jan, Well I guess it is happy New year now! Behind with the blog again.
December saw Rob and Harriet complete their CCR mod 1 as well as me taking a holiday to Egypt which made a really nice change.

Its full steam ahead for 2012 now though with the trips all looking good, I'm just waiting for flight confirmation for Truk Lagoon; there are currently 14 of us heading out there in Nov.
I've just done some website updates though I'm aware there is more that needs doing on that front.

Course wise Jan is pretty quiet but that is to be expected we have been diving though with a dip on the Scylla as well as a bit of boat driving, it after all kit maintainence time though so I'm well stuck into that.

Here is to a good one in 2012:)!

-------------------------------------

28th Nov, in the middle of a really good spell of teaching; the first part of the month was all open circuit with a advanced nitrox course and advanced rec trimix course so congratulations to Martin and Dave for getting through those. Now onto CCR training and have just finished a course with Tom, Clare and Bob whow have all passed the Inspo mod 1 so congratulations to them. Interest in next years trips is also looking good so it is really refreshing to see a healthy interest in diving at the back end of the year. Now getting set to start a mod 1 on Wednesday!

--------------------------------------

25th Oct, A good weekend at the dive show, thanks to those who stopped by - definately seemed a better turn out than the London shows earlier this year, glad I went; running the Norway trips with twinsets and CCR kit onboard definately seems to be what people are looking for.
A day in the NDAC on the way home yesterday working with a couple of guys on their way to Normoxic trimix, the vis is great in their at the moment.

---------------------------------------

19th Oct, behind yet again on the blog front but I have been updating facebook so you can look for me there.
Courses have picked up at the back end of the year and had a cracking trip out to the Nurnberg in September to, she was the sister to the Karlsruhe but was saved from scuttling and sunk as a target south of the Isle of Wight.
Just back from Scapa where I've been teaching a MOD 1 course, great as ever to be up there.
Have just taken delivery of my new Otter Britannic and Santi undersuit so looking forward to getting them in the water.
Also just booked the Dive Show so if you are heading to the NEC this weekend please come and say hello, stand 1738 in the British Isles bit.

---------------------------------------

28th August, well a bit behind on the blog front but it has been a great month for diving.
July panned out to be mostly about boat driving but August has seen me in Malin Head diving the classic's; Audacious, Justicia, Empire Heritage and Laurnetic - a stunning weeks divingi on Loyal Watcher.
A few days off touring through the North West Highlands was stunning and truly reccomended.
I've now just finished a Scapa History Week that went really well and the guys onboard really seemed to get a lot out of, Rod MacDonald was a along for a few days working on some new sketches for 'Dive Scapa Flow' and Jane Morgan was taking some photo's.
Now looking towards the Autum and Winter training schedule so will have some updates soon.

----------------------------------------

13th July, Just at the end of an interesting job in Norfolk with DMS, its been boat driving for me but the guys have been filming on the chalk reef. Back in Plymouth tomorrow and looking forward to being back in the water.

-----------------------------------------

29th June, Well a bit behind with the blog but a great run up in the Orkney islands.
Since my last update I have run a Scapa History week which I felt was the best one so far, which is great as they keep getting better, a couple of the guys are even coming back in August.
I've had a week of gas diving off the NE Scottish coast which was simply some of the best diving I've ever done, a full trip report can be seen here http://www.yorkshire-divers.com/forums/trip-reports/161896-week-gas-diving-scotland-halton.html
Liam and Emily completed there Normoxic Trimix onboard the Radiant Queen in Scapa Flow with the final dive on the Strathgarry in great conditions, I hope Rosie's back is better soon and she can come and get the course finished.
Now back in Plymouth getting ready for some boat driving over the next couple of weeks and catching up on admin.
Norway deposits have now started to arrive and I've updated that page of the website with the latest flight info and the 2012 rates for Truk have yet to be finalised so the offer of booking at the 2011 rates remain:).

Me jumping in on HMS Astronomer, that Bob Adderson is getting better with his camera!

6th June, Thats me well settled i in Scapa now. Last weeks Adv Nitrox course went well and congratulations to Tim and bill for making such a huge step forward. I'm now on the 'Scapa History Week' and we have a real mix of people onboard and it looks to be a good week. The weather in Orkney is great at the minute and the vis good to.

-------------------------------------

21st May, Well done to Scott for completing his inspo Mod 1 this week, we had a good week with 2 cracking days sea diving to finish off.
Twinset skills on Sunday and then fingers crossed on the weather for next weeks dives on the Scalla and Riversdale, then off to Scapa - thats come round quick!

-------------------------------------

11th May, well a bit behind with updates but here goes.
Interest in the Truk trip has been great and I'm in the process of sending the first group of deposits over.
I have also booked the Halton for a week in Norway next year, please check out the trips section on the left.
Back in the water next week teaching an inspo mod 1 course,

-------------------------------------

19th April, Ola, a few days away from the website but some interesting diving; I was out with a local group on the Lord Stonehaven the weekend before last then off to Oban and a few days in the Sound of Mull on the Halton. The Aurania was a highlight of these few days for me, nice to do a new wreck and good to be in the water with Liam again; Tris came along to and got a few hours in on his JJ and Bob was out playing with his camera, I'll post some results soon.
Dived the Glen Strath! Last night with Rich and co trying to film congers feeding at night; all I can say is diving with a scooter with a 200watt HMI light strapped to it is the way to go!!:))))))))

-------------------------------------

5th April, prices have now been added to the prices page. The 45m dives from Plymouth in May are now full pending people sending their deposits, lots of space on the other dates though.

-------------------------------------

4th April, now collecting deposits for Truk Lagoon in 2012 :).

-------------------------------------

3rd April, was in the water on Tuesday in Lundy which made a pleasant change. Mostly suit repairs and making drygloves for the rest of the week. Plans for Truk are coming along nicely, I'll be sending the email out for deposits later today or tomorrow, good news is if you book now I have secured the 2011 rate :).

------------------------------

28th March, back from LIDS now and sat sending some follow up emails, thanks to thoses that stoipped by and I hope to see you again soon. I'm off to Lundy tomorrow :).

------------------------------

25th March, have arrived and set up for the London show. Hope to see some of you here.

------------------------------

20th March, sat down with Wrighty at last today and have dates for some diving out of Plymouth please have a look at http://www.divingindepth.co.uk/plymouth-diving for more details.

------------------------------

18th March, after a couple of beautiful sunny days driving Ocean Venture for Rich it was my turn to go diving. Loading the boat at 6.30 am the weather was grey and wet but we were rewarded with no wind and fantastic conditions on the Medoc [55m]. So a good morning, one gas dive done and at home for 10am!

------------------------------

15th March, a good day on Saturday with the local club again, Australbush this time; a big wreck in 60m, great vis and good light.
Busy with suits and regs this week [there seem to be lots of broken zips about at the min] and driving the rib for Rich tomorrow.
I'll be coming up with some more course dates soon.

------------------------------

11th March, The new website is online :). Now I've moved it over to the main site I do need to work through adding links etc. This new site is much much easier to update so I see it as an ongoing project rather than a job done, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I've just recieved this T- shirt off Simon from last weeks trimix course.

runtime t

Anyone would think we had to focus on runtimes ;), cheers Simon

------------------------------------

10th March, Nice day out on the rib with Plymouth Sound BSAC yesterday. We dived the Unicorn in 50m, a small wreck but well worth a vist, I've posted a trip report on YD.

------------------------------------

7th March, Congratulations to Simon for completing his normoxic trimix training in Chepstow yesterday. We had a great 5 days though the weather prevented us finishing the course in the sea; we did make it out on Saturday to the HMS Foyle though, thanks to those that came just for the diving.

------------------------------------

21st Feb, Just back from 'The Big Scuba Show' at Olympia, it was a last minute decision to go but I'm really glad I went. It was a complete mixed bag of people there with the focus of the Saturday definately being the BSAC DO's conference and interest being centred on trips rather than training, early interest in Truk looks great! Sunday was more of a mixed bag of people with more questions about training.
